Rockin' Baja Lobster - Downtown San Diego

Rockin' Baja Lobster, known for its Mexican cuisine and festive atmosphere, wanted a unique floor for their downtown San Diego location. We created a dynamic, colorful surface mimicking the ocean with Westcoat’s Grind/Stain/Seal system.

All floors were prepped by patching and grinding the existing concrete with 30/40 and 60/80 grit diamonds.

In the downstairs dining area, the concrete was stained with Westcoat SC-30 Acid Stain in colors of Aqua, Mint and Bronze. The floor was then sealed with two coats of EC-11 Water-Based Clear Epoxy.

Upstairs, the concrete was primed with EC-12 Epoxy Primer and troweled with TC-2 Smooth Texture Cement. The overlay was then stained with Westcoat SC-36 Fast Stain in an array of vibrant colors including Aquamarine, Light Brown, Burnt Orange and Yellow to create this eye-catching floor simulating the ocean and beach. The floor was sealed with EC-11 Water Based Epoxy and SC-65 Water-Based Polyurethane Sealer for maximum durability at this high traffic eatery.

Social Life Pizza

Social Life Pizza with Fast Stain
Social Life Pizza
Size:  1,180 Sq. Ft.
Installation:  Westcoat TC-29, SC-36 Fast Stain, SC-66 Water-Based Satin Polyurethane Sealer

Social Life Pizza, a fast-casual Neapolitan-style pizza restaurant in the College area needed a hardy floor that could stand up to frequent foot traffic but was also decorative. To determine the best options, the Life Deck team mocked up several samples with color and texture variations to ensure Social Life founder and restaurant vet, Joseph DeSantis, got what he wanted. Life Deck’s Grind/Stain/Seal system was the preferred choice.

To begin, the existing concrete was diamond grinded with a 780 grinder and profiled with 34/40 diamond plugs to remove the old coating. Cracks were patched with Westcoat TC-29 and then profiled with 60/80 plugs. Following prep, Westcoat Fast Stain was applied in brown to warm up the dining area. Two coats of Westcoat EC-11 Water-Based Epoxy and one coat of SC-66 Water-Based Satin Polyurethane Sealer were applied for long-lasting durability.

Floors are now decorative and easy to maintain.

Gingham Restaurant

Here is the new Gingham Restaurant in La Mesa that had a bit of an unusual request... they had to do the floor without closing down the restaurant and without removing the esisting terrazzo floor!  Project manager Scott Tischler did a small test area on the existing terrazzo with our Fast Stain and the owners loved the look! The entire restaurant terrazzo floor was Fast Stained and sealed after hours and Gingham was open the next day for business.

Allergy friendly floor for family pet in Escondido

Project Manager Todd Cook had customers in Escondido with a dog that has allergies so they needed a floor that was easy to maintain and keep clean for their family pet. Todd's crew removed the existing tile and carpet to reveal a concrete substrate to work with. The floor was prepped and stained with a mix Light Brown and Brown Fast Stain and sealed with EC-11 and SC-66 Water-Based Polyurethane. This combination makes for a low VOC and eco friendly floor that will last and keep allergies to a minimum.

Stain in a consulting firm

Nautilus Environmental, an environmental consulting firm, moved into a new facility here in San Diego and were in need of a tough but elegant floor for their new location. The designer we worked with on this job really liked the grind, stain, and seal look so both Fast Stain and Water-Based Stain were applied to the existing concrete throughout and sealed.

Fast Stain installation at new Stone Brew store in South Park

Stone Brew Co. opened a new store in South Park and we got our Fast Stain system on the floor! The store is a place you can fill your growlers with Stone's beers and buy bottles, kegs and merchandise. This building was a gym and had rubber tiling throughout. Todd Seaboch's crew had to pull up the tiling and prep the existing concrete below the tiles to get the substrate ready for the face lift. Fast Stain was applied directly to the concrete and the whole floor was sealed for a clean look. Be sure to stop by and check it out and don't forget your growler!

U.S. University

Here we have an impressive 20,000 square foot Fast Stain job at U.S. University in Chula Vista. This look was accomplished by grinding, staining and sealing existing concrete. The use of several colors creates a dynamic flow throughout the facility and the water-based sealer is durable while maintaining a medium gloss finish.
