When Project Manager Scott Tischler inspected this back yard oasis he soon discovered that there were two
different concrete slab's poured next to each other. The customer wanted all areas to blend together. Scott's crew had to adjust the amount of
color and do some detailed blending to make a more uniform look. They used Acid Stain in Bronze and then sealed all areas with SC-42 Water-Based Acrylic Sealer to achieve this look and just in time for the upcoming pool season. University of San Diego Sports Complex
USD Sports Center
It's summer time. Time to get those pool decks in perfect condition. A major upgrade to the University of San Diego's pool deck took place this month, giving students and athletes a fresh, clean, skid resistant surface for sunning, swimming and competing.
To begin, this 18,000 square foot project needed extensive prepping. Project Manager Scott Tischler and his crew power washed the pool deck and then scarified it to rough up the hard concrete surface and ensure proper adhesion of the coatings. Westcoat EC-12 Epoxy Primer was then rolled on with silica sand broadcast into the primer to aid in adhesion of the subsequent slurry coat. The slurry coat consisted of Westcoat TC-1 white for the coping areas, with the main deck areas tinted with TC-40 Liquid Colorant in cinnamon. Special attention was taken to smooth out this decades old concrete.
The floor was then hit with a buffer with 80-100 grit sandpaper to smooth the surface. Next, the knockdown spray texture was a combination of Westcoat TC-1 and TC-2 cements also tinted with TC-40. Two coats of SC-10 were then applied in colors of Omaha Tan for the main area, Travatan for the coping. Safe Grip was added to increase the deck's skid resistant features. To complete the job, SC-42 Water-Based Acrylic Sealer was applied to protect the deck from the elements.
Three days after completion, the pool area was open to students, athletes and summer camps.

Beautiful Pool Deck

Just in time for summer, here we have a great looking Texture Crete pool deck with a flagstone and colorwash finish. The flagstone compliments the rock wall and pool edge nicely. Check out that view! Did you know that for added safety around the pool you can have a fine sand broadcasted in to the finish for more skid resistance? Many customer opt for the added safety feature of the sand on areas such as pool decks.
